With the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, Michael’s module had to be re-designed for online delivery. At the start of the semester, he made the conscious decision to deliver the course content asynchronously, pre-recording the lessons or lectures in a series of “bite sized” videos each week which the students could review/look at in their own time. Students then completed online assessments in the following week to gauge their learning and understanding of that content. This learning was also built upon and applied in projects and assignments later in the semester. In an effort to make the lessons more engaging and interesting for the student, Michael attempted to transcribe the engagement of a classroom “whiteboard” setting to the pre-recorded lecture space, which is what we he talks about in this video.
